Leadership involves the 7 habits. These skills can be very useful in life during both good and bad times. When Tom Williams became a turn around school, a special dedication to leadership was created. Specials are classes where students go to learn about a specific subjects. Tom Williams has a Student Lighthouse committee, which is a leadership team of fourth and fifth grade students. These students must apply for positions to represent the school. They attend meetings to discuss events in the school and help set up community events such as Breakfast with Books. Field Day is also discussed among the students and teachers. The leadership specialist is Mr. Minkler, he explains the habits and encourages students to find their voice by speaking about the habits to adults and participating in school events.
These are the 7 habits in the big and beautiful courtyard at Tom Williams Elementary School.
Leadership means that people do the right thing without someone having to tell or remind them. Leadership is really important at Tom Williams. Learning about being leaders teaches students how to be proactive rather than reactive during a tough time and shows kids how to be good people. Every month the school awards students that show they are leaders.
